Over the last few months, Nova Scotia has hosted a variety of events while adhering to the advice of public health. There have been several success stories, including events like the Celtic Colours International Festival and DEVOUR! Food Film Festival.
The Events Nova Scotia team has been working with their colleagues across government to develop a set of guidelines that would allow large facilities to host larger gatherings safely. The Guidelines for Venues & Facilities document is designed for venues and facilities that have the capacity to host large gatherings or events.
For your facility to host audiences larger than the current gathering limits, your facility plan needs to outline how the facility will safely manage zones, along with how all public health directives will be followed. This guide is meant to help you build a plan to manage those zones and implement all necessary public health recommendations. If your facility does not have the capacity to manage separate zones, you must operate within the current gathering limits.
This document will guide you through building a plan that will help our province limit the spread of COVID-19.

The organizer/venue must send a notification to host via nseconomy@novascotia.ca.
We are also learning how to provide better event guidance, thanks to you. We’ve updated the guiding document for events, theatres, and venues to reflect questions we’ve heard from you.
