Congratulations to Celtic Colours for hosting a successful virtual event this past October. Celtic Colours celebrates the Celtic diaspora with emphasis on Gaelic and Celtic cultures as well as the many important Acadian and Mi'kmaw cultures. Celtic Colours is truly an international event with half of its audience typically coming from outside of Canada – which presented a huge challenge in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Celtic Colours quickly pivoted their event to a digital stage, keeping their fans engaged and encouraging travel to Nova Scotia. Years of livestreaming experience, established brand recognition, resources and optimism were factors in their ability to quickly move toward a digital platform.
Their willingness to see opportunity in the challenges posed by COVID-19 created opportunity for increased engagement, enhanced digital production quality, and the launch of new content such as an added pre-show and their brand new series, Road Trip, featuring the various communities and cultures of Cape Breton Island.
The event saw hundreds of thousands of online views, more than 2,600 new Facebook followers, over 1,300 new Youtube subscribers and a 59% increase in website traffic. The digital event helped build videography and production skills as well as promoted pride of place and an increased desire in fans to travel to Nova Scotia in the future.
